Kuntscher Nail

About Kuntscher Nail

The Kuntscher Nail was developed by Gerhard Kuntscher (born 1900 in Zwickau-1972) who was a German surgeon. This surgery was first performed in 1939 at the university hospital of Kiel, Germany. The nail is rigid and has a cloverleaf shape in cross-section. When resorption of the bone occurs, the Kuntscher nail expands around it.
