Being tree huggers, history buffs and involved in Orthopaedics, two guys in a basement set out to bring the Andry Tree to life with copper welding cable, mined rock, tile saws, diamond core drills and fifteen hours of toil per tree. Each piece is a unique 17 by 11 by 8 inch tree based on the original Andry drawing representing a great profession and tradition. The sculpture is shipped in a custom designed crate that can withstand almost any shipping mistreatment. The Tree sells for $300 plus shipping fees. It is a popular gift for Resident and Fellow graduations, department entrances, retirements, birthdays, holidays, visiting professorship, orthopaedic industry, and special projects.
