MAGEC (MAGnetic Expansion Control System) (Prod 9935)

About MAGEC (MAGnetic Expansion Control System) (Prod 9935)

The MAGECâ„¢ MAGnetic Expansion Control System utilizes a novel motion-preserving, minimally-invasive technology that, through communication with an external magnetic field, can be non-invasively adjusted in an outpatient setting via remote control by the physician to correct spinal deformities.

The External Remote Controller (ERC) is a portable, hand held unit that uses permanent magnets to automatically modify the length of the implant through the touch of a switch.

The MAGEC system was cleared by the FDA on February 27th, 2014 for use in skeletally immature patients less than 10 years of age with severe spinal deformities associated with, or at risk of, Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome.
